Sareen Stone’s new Artarmon studio has been designed with a clear point of difference: it is not a traditional showroom, but a working space for architects, designers and their clients.

Located on Herbert Street, the studio began as a raw concrete shell before being transformed in just four weeks into a considered, material-led environment. Timber slat walls, an exposed ceiling, abundant natural light and stone underfoot create a setting that feels closer to a design studio than a retail space. One where material selection can unfold with the time and focus it deserves.

At the heart of the concept is a simple idea: specification is a collaborative process. Rather than asking architects and interior designers to work from small samples or disconnected displays, the Artarmon studio gives them space to bring clients in, spread out plans and move through selections in a more tactile, considered way.

Three dedicated studio workspaces have been integrated throughout the studio, allowing project teams to work through decisions at their own pace while surrounded by the stone they are considering. It is a practical response to the way design decisions are actually made, through conversation, comparison and the ability to see how materials behave in real light.

The material displays have been designed to encourage this kind of engagement. Sareen Stone’s limestone, travertine and granite collections are presented in a hands-on format, while wall cladding moves from antique white through to warm golden tones and soft greys. Cathedral Crazy Paving sweeps across the floor in organic form, offering a more immersive understanding of scale, texture and movement.

Nothing is placed behind glass. Everything can be touched, held and viewed in context.

The interior design was led by Sidgreaves and Co, with construction by Hyland Building. Stone installation was completed by Long Reef Bathrooms and Green Coast Landscapes, with lighting by LPA Lighting, Carmel's Creative Signs for the signage and photography by Bolt Media.

Since opening, the studio has already begun to operate as more than a place of display. It has hosted the Landscape Design Institute for an evening focused on pool safety barrier updates, welcomed Diploma of Landscape Design students from Ryde TAFE for an in-depth exploration of natural stone selection, and opened its doors to a growing community of architects, designers and homeowners.

These activations speak to the broader role of the studio: a place for conversation, learning and more confident decision-making. For those working across residential and commercial projects, Sareen Stone’s Artarmon studio offers something increasingly valuable. A quiet, well-lit and properly resourced environment where material decisions can be made away from the noise of a construction site or the limitations of a sample board.

The Sareen Stone Studio is located at Unit 8, 43 Herbert Street, Artarmon NSW, and is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm.
