Designed specifically for a high-traffic hospitality environment, the fireplace delivers the visual impact of a live flame without the need for a traditional flue. The installation forms part of Crown’s arrival experience, adding warmth, movement and atmosphere to one of Sydney’s most prominent waterfront destinations.
What sets this project apart is its custom-engineered external pump system, developed by Decoflame to support up to 200 hours of runtime without refuelling. The system is purpose-built for commercial settings, where presentation consistency and minimal operational intervention are critical.
Manufactured in Denmark, Decoflame fireplaces are based on BEV (Burning Ethanol Vapour) technology, allowing real flame to be integrated into complex architectural environments without gas infrastructure or flue constraints. The Crown Barangaroo installation demonstrates how this technology can be adapted at scale, supporting both design ambition and operational practicality.
Positioned as a focal point within the lobby, the fireplace functions as more than ambience. It acts as a gathering point, a visual anchor and a subtle expression of Crown’s luxury brand language.
The project signals a growing shift toward engineered, Net Zero fireplace solutions in premium hospitality, where sustainability, flexibility and experience-led design increasingly sit side by side.
