A reimagined mid-century landscape in Palm Desert where a rehabilitated pool, structured outdoor living spaces, and a refined planting palette create a cohesive environment for family life and entertaining.
Located in South Palm Desert, the Pinyon Street project transforms a sprawling mid-century property by reorganizing the landscape to better align with the architecture and the client’s vision. The design addresses both aesthetic and functional challenges, replacing outdated elements with a cohesive and contemporary outdoor environment.
The existing pool and spa were rehabilitated and reestablished as the focal point of the rear yard. New paving introduces strong, clean lines that connect the home to the landscape while reinforcing a sense of order and clarity.
Program elements are layered throughout the site, including a play lawn, horseshoe pits, and a firepit lounge. These features support a range of activities while maintaining openness across the property.
A trellis-covered outdoor kitchen, bar, and dining area anchors the social life of the garden, creating a central gathering space for family and guests. This structure reinforces the connection between indoor and outdoor living.
Planting combines citrus, perennials, and desert-adapted species to soften the architectural framework and unify the site. The result is a landscape that balances functionality, comfort, and restraint.
