Austin – 70 Rainey

High above downtown Austin, this condominium looks out over Lady Bird Lake and the city skyline. The interiors were designed to soften the glass high-rise setting and bring a stronger sense of nature inside. Drapery and rugs add softness, while walnut, limewashed brick, and other natural materials introduce texture and warmth. A built-in dining banquette was designed to conserve space, paired with a custom dining table whose base was made from a single large tree stump. A custom bed made from a single live-edge slab of walnut and other organic forms continue that natural language throughout the residence, creating a counterpoint to the urban setting while allowing the lake and skyline to remain part of the rooms.
