This stunning waterfront property on Lake Austin underwent a complete transformation, with the Etch Design Group team modernizing the entire home while preserving its Spanish-style exterior charm. Originally characterized by a red clay tile roof and large stone pillars, the interior felt compartmentalized and traditional. Our goal was to update every interior finish while maintaining harmony with the home’s original architecture. We opened up the kitchen and living spaces to create a seamless flow, raising the ceilings to enhance the sense of openness and connectivity throughout. The result? A modern, light-filled interior that complements the breathtaking lake views while preserving the home's exterior integrity. The team at Etch modernized every room, replacing all windows and doors and introducing a serene courtyard outside the owner’s retreat. New interior furnishings were carefully selected to accentuate the stunning natural backdrop. One of the most eye-catching features is the double-sided fireplace, wrapped in striking Dekton slabs, which creates a visual connection between the living room and the breakfast area. In the kitchen, we installed motorized cabinet doors to discreetly conceal appliance garages, and added Bocci plugs at the backsplash for an extra touch of luxury. The two powder bathrooms showcase handcrafted waterfall-edge stone countertops with integrated slab sinks, adding a sculptural element to the space. In the primary bathroom, we incorporated ombre mosaic wall tile, a custom freestanding waterfall-edge slab bench, and expansive windows that open to a private courtyard, inviting the outdoors in. Our design approach centered on enhancing the clients’ lifestyle and needs, creating an open floor plan filled with natural light and uninterrupted views of the lakefront property. The end result is a sophisticated, cohesive retreat that beautifully marries modern design with the home’s original Spanish flair.
