Located in Austin’s Crestview neighborhood, this home balances bold color with natural light. Warm woods, soft concrete, and clean structure define each room. Our goal was to highlight the architecture with timeless materials and comfortable, well-scaled furnishings. Architecture by Murray Legge.Located in Austin’s Crestview neighborhood, this home balances bold color with natural light. Murray Legge’s architecture gave us a strong, clean framework: warm woods, neutral concrete, and crisp structure define each room, and the materials are honest and quietly confident. Our goal was to highlight that architecture, so we kept the palette of the building itself calm and timeless.
Color comes in through the furnishings. Rugs, artwork, stools, and upholstery carry the energy and personality of the home, layered against the natural materials in a way that feels lively without competing with the architecture. Because the color lives in pieces that can be swapped or refreshed, the house can evolve with the family over time.
Natural light is the other half of the story. It moves through the house across the day, warming the wood, softening the concrete, and bringing out the color in each room.
Every furnishing is comfortable and well-scaled to the volumes of the space, and each was selected with budget and durability in mind. This is a home for a small family and their dog, and it was designed to be lived in, with pieces that hold up to daily life and still look polished.
