Suerte is a masa-focused Mexican restaurant on East Sixth Street. We were given a shell space and designed the entire interior: the restaurant layout, interior architecture, finishes, and details. That included custom millwork, ceiling treatments, the bar, and custom lighting throughout. The concept connects the energy of the kitchen to guests in the dining room and out to the street. That energy shaped how we planned the seating, circulation, and sightlines through the long, narrow 4,000-square-foot room.
The interior carries the character of the cuisine, which is built on heirloom corn and traditional technique. We drew on Mexican craft and color to make a warm, festive room. The detailed bar and millwork, the ceiling treatments overhead, and custom lighting throughout give the space its personality and set the mood from the entry to the back of the room. The result is a lively room that is tied to the food. Suerte is Michelin Guide-listed.
