The brainchild of four close friends (Deborah and John Scott and Megan and Brady Wood), Park House offers a truly unique experience perched high above the heart of Highland Park Village, blending the experience of London’s private members club scene with the relaxed charm for which Texas has become known. For this very special project, the owners behind Park House enlisted the design prowess of [Studio Collective] to help bring the inaugural location to life. Starting with the owners’ individual travels, sense of adventure and unflappable hospitality as a jumping off point, [Studio Collective] brought a European sensibility with modern detailing layered with comfortable, custom furnishings to the space which serves Dallas’ creative, entrepreneurial and philanthropic communities as a gathering space for work and play, dining and dancing.
Stepping out of a brass clad elevator onto the third floor of a recently renovated Spanish inspired building in Highland Park Village, members are welcomed into a warm, plastered, vaulted reception area and greeted by a hostess situated behind a custom, carved wood reception desk in a metallic finish. It is immediately apparent that artwork is a key component of the club’s DNA, as a gallery lined with contemporary pieces leads members from the reception area into the Living Room, the social hub of the club. Designed to allow for a multitude of functions and a mix of party sizes, the Living Room provides members the perfect spot to catch up on some work, take a meeting, enjoy a cocktail or share a small bite. A thirty foot long, curvilinear bar featuring a leather tufted bar face and arm rest, marble bar top and patinated, brass back bar serve as the featured backdrop upon entering the Living Room. An eclectic mix of seating types including built-in curved banquettes, free floating sofas and a variety of upholstered club chairs provide the perfect mix to choose from depending on the members’ needs. A stand up piano and vinyl only DJ booth are also located in the Living Room allowing for impromptu performances and dance parties should the desire arise.
A double sided, plaster fireplace anchors one end of the Living Room and also provides separation from the Dining Room. Offering a refined, yet approachable menu for all hours of the day, the Dining Room takes its inspiration from a more casual, al fresco style of dining and includes a landscape inspired terrazzo floor, an enclosed Green Room with operable blackened steel windows and trellis-like wood ceiling and a private dining room with a custom floral mural. A hammered iron gate separates the Green Room from a small Moroccan inspired exterior lounge which allows members a more private moment while stepping outside. Again, with flexibility and comfort in mind, the Dining Room is the perfect spot to accommodate a romantic dinner for two or a larger, celebratory dinner party with friends.
Adjacent on the opposite end of the Living Room, members looking for a little more privacy are invited to wander into the Peacock Parlor. An intimate lounge complete with its own private honed marble and brass bar, peacock blue lacquered walls and a vaulted ceiling featuring a hand painted mural, the Peacock Parlor is focused around a custom billiards table where members can relax and shoot some stick while enjoying a beverage of their choosing. Continuing down a small corridor, passed the bar, a salvaged brass gate pays homage to the bank that once existed at this location and also serves as a portal into The Vault. The Vault serves as a small room available to members for everything from a game of cards to a private board meeting. Individual safety deposit boxes line the walls and can store members’ private stash ensuring they will always have their personal favorite comforts of home. On the other side of the Peacock Parlor, The Salon, a larger, multi-purpose room is designed to be home to a variety of events; everything from a curated program of guest speakers and readings to educational workshops and late night dancing. Complete with its very own bespoke DJ Booth and disco ball, The Salon guarantees to be the perfect playground for Park House’s late night debauchery.
Finally, stepping outside from the Salon onto The Patio, a large, exterior deck provides incredible views over Dallas and during the seasonal months, allows members the ideal location to socializing and mingling. A large, hand crafted water feature takes center stage, blending form and function, and is lined with custom designed tile from Brooklyn based artist Sarah Crowner becoming a work of art in and of itself. An abundance of potted plants line The Patio giving it a lush, vibrant garden feel. A terrazzo faced bar provides members with an ideal spot for a sunset cocktail while a wood trellis gives cover overhead, providing shade both for the bar as well as a multitude of dining tables, allowing for a more casual and relaxed dining experience. In total, Park House is a welcome addition to the Dallas social and professional scene, affording a one of a kind environment to a diverse membership and is destined to become a fixture in town for years to come.
