With her first signature restaurant, Giada De Laurentiis is creating an environment that is bold yet comforting, a space that will really WOW it’s guests while also putting them at ease, a design that is both sleek but also serves as a warm, contemporary backdrop to showcase her Italian cooking. For the design, [ Studio Collective ] sought to create a clean and light-filled environment with a modern residential feeling, complimented by one of the best views in Las Vegas. With a variety of dining experiences, incredible food and spirits displays, combined with Giada’s unique approach to Italian cooking, the design strives to capture a contemporary California sensibility, while paying homage to Giada’s own deep Italian roots.
Giada De Laurentiis’s new restaurant will look to offer a private glimpse into Giada’s own kitchen, providing unequaled dining experience for the Hotel’s guests as well as visiting patrons coming from across the globe to get a taste of her California influenced Italian cooking. Centrally located at the intersection of Las Vegas Blvd. at Flamingo Road and perched prominently on the 2nd level of the newly renovated hotel, GIADA’s has clear unobstructed views over this historic intersection as well as the famous Bellagio Fountains. Complimented by a sweeping open-air terrace with oversized, operable bi-fold windows, GIADA’s will simultaneously float above the entrance to the casino as well as serve as an iconic landmark at the celebrated intersection. While ascending up from the main casino floor via escalator or elevator, guests to the new restaurant space will immediately sense the clean and contemporary design once they make their way upwards to the entry level. Smooth, light plaster walls and graphic marble patterned floors begin the journey with a subtle nod to Italianate architecture through tried and true materials. At reception, a plastered groin-vault ceiling centers a large, bespoke venetian-glass chandelier, while below a contemporary, hand crafted wood bookcase layered with objects, artwork and sculptures suggests a more human and residential scale. Upon arrival, a glimpse to the frenetic outside world of Las Vegas can be seen through a filter of operable vertical wood fins and horizontal rows of plantings, creating a lingerie effect, further heightening one’s anticipation. As the guests move through a large, welcoming doorway, a sense of craft begins to present itself through the leather wrapped handles and hand-sculpted wood details. Once inside the restaurant guests turn the corner to see the full expanse of the glowing space beyond, and are metaphorically greeted by GIADA with a warm hug.
Venturing further back into GIADA’s, a mix of intimate spaces present themselves for a variety of needs and entertaining, much like the differing rooms in one’s home. Whether for a large dinner party in one of the two formal dining rooms, complete with cozy fireplaces, wood-clad walls and a private terrace, or the decadent dining parlor for well up to twenty guests, just steps down from the main bar ( bordered by a back lit wine display wall ) there is something approachable and comforting for all visitors here. And just as Giada’s own home possesses a sense of modernity mixed with pops of color, [ Studio Collective ] will look to inject her fun and contemporary sense of style and charm into the space through the use of more feminine lines of the bespoke furnishings, employing color-saturated upholstery work, and assembling various works of art she has collected through friends and family, complimented with site-specific pieces to help layer the space. Similar to her own residence, the essential values of family and culture are ever-present in a wonderful display of objects, photographs and keep-sakes, and they will continue to tell her story throughout GIADA.
