MISSION PACIFIC HOTEL

Nestled directly the ridgelines of Camp Pendleton directly to the North and Cleveland National Forest to the East, and neatly perched alongside the Pacific coastline and the famed Oceanside Pier, lays home to the future outpost of nearby Guadalupe Valle’s most inventive cooking by Mexican chef Roberto Alcocer. Drawing from the abundance of the Valle’s microclimates and superb agricultural roots, Alcocer looks to bring his inventive and modern spin on hyper-locally inspired Baja cooking to this new sister restaurant to his beloved Malva, christened “Valle,” at the new Mission Pacific Hotel.

The Spirit of travel and adventure is as synonymous with Baja California, as healthy living and effortless cool are to SoCal’s counter-culture roots. These relaxed principles combined with both regions magnificent landscapes of extremes: soaring ridgelines, fertile farmlands, dry desert plains, tight winding valleys, cliff-lined seas, and lush valleys… all add to California and Baja Sur’s allure and prosperity. The process of moving up, over and through these beautifully diverse landscapes is just as powerful as arriving; to quote musician Brian Eno’s take on Baja: “Its not the destination that matters, it’s the change of scene.” Baja and Southern California used to be one territory, prior to being subdivided in 1850; now with ‘Sierra Blanca’ we aim to bring these two worlds together within a special restaurant that bridges cultures, honors craftsmanship and exudes soulful cooking in a warm and comfortable setting.

Inspired by the colors, textures and sensations of both regions shared natural beauty and inspiring surroundings, the restaurant aims to reflect an authentic, hand-crafted environment for all guests to enjoy. A mixture of nature-inspired elements with unusual and/or unorthodox finishes and details, will nicely contrast against the more contemporary structure it is housed within. Combining sensual, yet comfortable indoor and outdoor dining spaces, a cozy and lively bar room, and a charming Private dining room-cum-informal-wine-shop, the restaurant will have the flexibility to satisfy many guests at varying times of day. Serving as an oasis for locals and hotel guests alike, as well as a destination restaurant for high-caliber cooking to the greater region at large, Sierra Blanca will provide refuge for those seeking something not only special on the palate, but also to comfort their soul, keeping them wanting to come back for more.
