For over a century emigrated Danish settlers and their families have lived in harmony with the beautiful and natural surroundings of Solvang, translation “sunny fields,” and it’s soft rolling hills, under a mild but temperate climate….Since its inception, The Landsby Inn has not only played a prominent role as one of the towns largest Hotels, but also presents itself to the community as one of the more striking pieces of civic architecture to the main street corridor of the city. Centrally located on Mission Drive, and nestled in the hills of The Santa Ynez valley, it is both locally accessible to the towns diverse marketplaces and shops, and regionally positioned to many of the regions celebrated wineries and charming towns and plazas that are close by…..

Under the design guise of [ STUDIO COLLECTIVE ] the entire Hotel experience will be transformed from a the former dated and sleepy Hotel, into a reinvigorated destination boutique property, complete with several new food & beverage outlets, updated public spaces, and completely re-imagined guestrooms. Building on the surrounding areas atypical history as an authentic Danish settlement, the new design for the Hotels guestrooms will apply a cleaner, more contemporary sensibility, nodding towards a Scandinavian aesthetic. Rooms will be finished off with blonde woods, brushed bras accents, and elegant but comfortable furnishings you’ll want to sink into. For the diverse public spaces, a mixture of natural materials, a warm color palette and cozy spaces will play off some of the existing, more traditional architectural elements - such as the wood paneling and rustic wood-beamed ceilings; albeit with more tactile and interesting finishes. In addition, we are looking to more effectively open up the interior spaces a bit more to their adjacent outside areas. Here, the surrounding landscapes and patios will be generously updated with new plantings and lighting, which will further serve to open up the interior spaces to the outside, encouraging views and activity on both sides of the buildings perimeter. Significantly, our creative collaboration with the wildly successful “Red Hills Market,” out of Dundee Oregon, will provide several more active and exciting dining, drinking and gathering spaces to compliment these lushly landscaped grounds, and further engage not only hotel guests, but benefit the community at large……

The Landsby Inn has always provided locals and visitors alike with a truly enchanting relationship between it’s generations of visitors and the surrounding sacred lands; it will soon become a desired place for the respite and solitude of a more sophisticated destination getaway. With beautifully detailed and updated guestrooms, improved guest services and amenities, and a new on-premise marketplace and restaurant, aka The Red Hills Market, the new Landsby Inn will look to the past for inspiration, but will also be infused with the romance and contemporary, residential charm akin to a far away Scandinavian lodge….
