Sunset Overlook

This contemporary lakeside residence on Lake Keowee emerged from genuine collaboration between designer, builder, and artisan. Interior architecture defines each element—millwork, finishes, and details working toward a shared vision. A dramatic curved fireplace wall anchors the great room, its plaster surface punctuated by brass accent strips that trace the wall's gentle arc. This sculptural element introduces organic geometry while defining the primary living area. An innovative three-sided fireplace separates great room and kitchen, offering visual connection between spaces while maintaining distinct functional areas. Exposed timber beams and coffered ceiling treatments in natural wood tones add dimension overhead, their geometric patterns providing architectural interest without overwhelming the open plan. Custom Amish-made cabinetry appears throughout demonstrating exceptional millwork at every turn. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame lake vistas from multiple vantage points, while retractable glass doors in the dining area dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior, maintaining clean sightlines without sacrificing structural presence. Light-toned wide-plank oak flooring unifies the spaces, while the restrained palette of warm woods, soft grays, and crisp whites allows the architecture and landscape to command attention. The result celebrates contemporary design with soul.
