SPARE ROOM

Under the watchful design eye of [Studio Collective], The SPARE ROOM will present itself as a modern day gaming parlor & cocktail lounge on a previously un-used portion of the Hotel’s mezzanine level, just off the Historical Lobby of the famed Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Perched along a series of beautiful, “flat-iron” building-style, arched windows stretching along Orange Avenue, this newly polished space will gracefully nod back to the time of the prohibition era’ of the 1920’s when the original Roosevelt Tower was actually built, circa 1927. Complete with two vintage bowling lanes, custom & eclectic furnishings, and unique surfaces & textures expressing a hand-crafted feel, this newest addition to the Roosevelt’s campus looks to provide unparalleled amenities to not only the Hotel guests, but also as an end destination for Hollywood’s fickle underground mover’s & shakers…. Tucked away on the Eastern portion of the Lobby Mezzanine, and framed between the Lobbies decorative beams & structural piers, this new lounge will fill the gap between the exclusivity of Teddy’s and the more large-scale Tropicana poolside area. Providing guests with bowling lanes harking back to early industrial Americana, modern day-glow signage & noisy electronics give way to chalk-board scoring and turn-of-the-century mechanics. Throughout the lounge a variety of gaming options will be available to all patrons: from backgammon & chess boards cleverly integrated into cocktail tables, to hand-delivered gaming suit-cases of dominos & connect four, bringing a new meaning to “table-side” service. The diverse furnishings will be comprised of various, custom designs from the Studio Collective to stately vintage finds re-imagined with luxe upholsteries & detailing. Custom lighting elements from milky glass globes floating above the lanes, to soft glowing sconces in the lounge will provide subtle layers of cognac-inspired hues. Finding inspiration from re-discovered architectural details, roughened concrete beams & plaster columns will be cleaned & polished to highlight some of the buildings original structure, and to express loftier ceiling heights in juxtaposition to the more intimate gaming spaces. Ultimately, a very comfortable & warm “Living Room / Salon” vibe will prevail, whether it is from the plush area rugs underfoot and supple leathers of the love-seats, or the hand-stamped leather menus & the exquisite hand-crafted cocktails, of course complete with chipped ice & unique garnishes…. Combining the seductive elements of an up-scale speak-easy, with the camaraderie of gaming, The SPARE ROOM will be a welcomed addition to the guest experience of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Offering savory bites and distinctive cocktails, this new salon will become a new paradigm for social gathering. Ultimately, providing unparalleled comfort & warmth in a snug environment…
