These guest lounges and conference spaces were created for MSocial, the Millennium Group's newest hotel brand in Auckland. The spaces on level one were designed to feel open and accessible without feeling anodyne. Hotel guests can make themselves coffee and catch up on emails or reading as well as using the boardrooms. The brief was to make the rooms grounded in their harbourside location so we chose to use Futura high pressure laminate plywoods in various colours to add a fresh and playful note and keep the materials slightly nautical.

Ash and Californian oak timber finishes make durable and warm surfaces for the kitchen end of the lounge where guests can help themselves to coffee and quick meals. Ceramic subway tiles and exposed shelves make the kitchenette accessible and open.

Smaller kitchenettes like these were fitted into each boardroom. Billi instant hot water systems help provide tea and coffee very quickly. Futura ply joinery brings continuity to all the other spaces on level one.

Marcel Wanders' New Antiques range of playful bar stools and leaners allow guests to take a break between their billiards shots in the pre-function space.

A custom boardroom table takes centre stage in this boardroom. Futura HPL plywood comes to the fore

More open plan meeting tables allow for casual, incidental catch ups. Custom ceramics by Morris & James help bring greenery into the spaces.
