Designed amidst the pandemic from an industrial live-work studio lacking any connection to nature, we wanted to harness the power of outdoor spaces.

Rethinking the standard approach to residential architecture, we designed a home that begins in the tree canopy, below the open sky. Indoor spaces are arranged in relation to their outdoor counterparts.

In its own separate mass, our small design studio greets its clients at the street, creating a clear division between work and home.

Working together as architects began by collaborating on a wide variety of design competitions. Katie and Dinesh explored different visions and began to understand how their designs could influence our world. A strong, well-rounded, and unified sensibility was built from their synergy. Ekva is a Sinhala word and acknowledgement of Dinesh's roots in Sri Lanka. In Sinhalese, ekva means "create together" and "join together." EKVA is a team of professionals and visionaries.
