A particularly unique build we got the opportunity to do was an architecturally designed fence surrounding the Tram Shed storage area on Taupo Quay. This project was commissioned by the Whanganui District Council’s Town Centre Regeneration Committee and designed by Dalgleish Architects.

The innovative structure adds a novel display of history and culture to the space that connects the street to the city’s riverfront and market area.

Made out of reclaimed Oregon timber from the historic Red Shed at the port, the fence achieves a three-dimensional effect with the way some boards are inset behind the posts and others run along the front. Gaps in the structure are then embellished with vintage glass power insulators, beautifully letting through the light.
