Comfortably blending regional and modern, this home for a retired couple embodies Austin’s easy indoor-outdoor lifestyle. The home’s street face presents a transparent volume bookended by solid massing, providing privacy and directing views through the central core. Horizontal modernist rooflines with deep, wood-lined soffits are lifted off the solid volumes by clerestories, and an entry courtyard softens the procession from street to door.
