The owners requested a simple yet sturdy holiday home to be constructed on their beautiful, private site in Northland.

The dwelling, designed by Herbst Architects, is located at Whangarei Heads and nestled between the rugged coastline and spectacular Manaia Peak.

The extreme coastal setting presented several construction challenges and the site was closed due to strong winds on more than one occasion. The home boasts a natural palette of materials including timber cladding, linings and floors as well as stone gabions as foundations and retaining.
