Anchored within the historic Kessler Building at 1301 Oak Street, the Aiden Kansas City Hotel exemplifies a masterful articulation of adaptive reuse and refined architectural sensibility. Scheduled for completion in 2025, this project transforms a 1919 landmark into an 84-room boutique hotel, seamlessly blending the glamour of Kansas City’s Roaring Twenties with contemporary sophistication. Wandrian Studios' design philosophy captures the essence of the Art Deco movement, translating its distinctive geometries and luxurious motifs into a timeless yet modern aesthetic.
The interior fit-out artfully distills the period’s opulence through a carefully curated palette of warm materials, layered textures, and refined spatial arrangements. The arrival sequence welcomes guests with terrazzo flooring, ribbed plaster ceilings, and marble accents that evoke grand hotel lobbies of the 1920s, while white oak arches establish a rhythmic flow, framing key public spaces such as the reception, bar, and lounge. The guestrooms offer serene retreats, where Art Deco-inspired elements—such as custom headboards, graphic wall coverings, and coved lighting—are complemented by pale woods, woven textiles, and curated historical photographs of Kansas City, creating a harmonious balance between nostalgia and modern comfort. Throughout the project, the design honours the building’s rich heritage whilst celebrating its new role as a vibrant, transit-oriented destination rooted in history yet undeniably of today.
