Discover our unique architectural design process, where you provide input in real time.

We engage clients in a collaborative journey from conceptualization to realization, starting with pen and paper during the initial consultation. This live-design methodology sets us apart in a world otherwise dominated by digital.

Step One: Live-Design Sketches

Attend an initial consultation to discuss your project and see your vision come to life in real-time. During this meeting, hand-drawn sketches of your project’s exterior and floor plan will be completed with your input.

Step Two: Design Development

After the initial consultation, your project drawings will be converted into digital floor plans, site plans, exterior drawings, and full 3D models in CAD.

Step Three: Design Completion

After review, revisions, and approvals, final digital designs will be submitted. You’ll then have access to beautifully life-like renderings of your custom design.

Step Four: Construction Documents

Detailed site plans, design footprints, exterior elevations, floor plans, and construction plans will be created for use by your builder. This phase includes all the extra details necessary to make your vision a reality.

Step Five: Interior Sketches

Visbeen Architects has the unique ability to conceptualize interior spaces as part of our full-service custom design agreement.

Visbeen Architects was founded in 1992 by Principal Wayne Visbeen in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

With a background in retail design and merchandising, Wayne’s first projects under the new company name included stores for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Sears, and Disney.

By the late 1990s, Visbeen Architects was beginning its foray into custom residential. Since then, our firm has designed over 2,500 homes and received numerous awards for architectural excellence.

Our firm has garnered hundreds of national awards for residential designs, reflecting our commitment to innovation and excellence in architecture. These honors highlight our ability to seamlessly blend aesthetic appeal with functional living spaces, setting a high standard in the field of residential architecture.
