Studio Campo
Landscape Architects
About us
Rooted in the American West, we design landscapes that balance ecology, culture, and craft — connecting people and places through design.
Studio Campo designs landscapes centered in the abundance of the natural world. We are a full-service landscape architecture & fabrication studio, based in Denver, Colorado, and Oregon’s Willamette Valley. We see design as an essential form of storytelling and stewardship as core to practice. We work on a broad range of project types, from residential gardens to public parks, with an emphasis on ecologically-driven and horticulturally-sensitive design.
Founded in 2019 by Cali Pfaff, we are boutique landscape architecture firm and fabrication studio based in Colorado and Oregon. We practice nationally, specialized in farm, garden, and hospitality design. Studio Campo is a woman-owned business and is certified as SBE, DBE, and MWBE in Denver, Colorado. Our team brings dedicated experience in parks & open space planning, agricultural design, hospitality design, material reuse & custom fabrication, and naturalistic planting design. The firm celebrates curiosity, craft, and love of flora.
About Us
Studio Campo explores the potential of landscapes to enrich human experience. The studio is centered in the belief that thriving ecosystems benefit our imagination as much as the species they support.
Studio Campo works with clients to unearth a strong sense of place. The firm takes on a range of projects, including gardens, hospitality spaces, farms, habitat areas, and public spaces, with a focus on naturalistic design and rural placemaking. The studio engages in landscape restoration practices to promote native species and takes a research-driven approach; biodiversity and ecological stewardship are cornerstones of the firm's practice.
Our work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Travel + Leisure, Monocle, Sunset Magazine, House Beautiful, Country Living, Landscape Architecture Magazine, and Southwest Contemporary. Studio Campo is a woman-owned business based in Denver, Colorado and Oregon’s Willamette Valley. We are certified as a M/WBE, SBE and EBE in landscape architecture and urban planning.
The ‘Campo’ —pronounced cahm‧po—in Studio Campo is the word for ‘field’ across a number of romance languages. The word can refer to a field of study, to a physical field or meadow, or to the philosophical disposition of being ‘no campo.’ In Portuguese, ‘no campo’ invokes the feeling of being out in the country, your hair blowing back. Studio Campo is named in honor of that feeling.
Design Approach
Every garden tells a story; there are no blank slates. Gardens connect us to past occupants, act as vessels for care, and bridge our connection to the natural world. Studio Campo creates romantic and enduring landscapes crafted from and for their location. We collaborate with clients to nurture an innate sense of place and ultimately contribute to a life well spent outdoors.
We begin each project by forensically exploring the site’s history, soil, and surrounding ecosystems. Then we sketch and dream with our clients to help align their vision to the realities of the site. From there we work with contractors and craftsmen, nurseries and plantspeople, to thoughtfully implement each project. We believe in landscapes that grow and evolve beyond our tenure and support clients in stewarding landscapes over time, through periodic check-ins and on call services.
