About us
We are an investment company, and property is our vehicle.
Operating in the Waikato Region of New Zealand, we have a strong commitment to building homes and developing land in a manner that provides quality homes for our people, whilst making profitable returns for our investment partners. We provide a full service from concept to keys - we manage the entire process.
During the early days, our focus was on growing our client portfolio and promoting our brand - Kingston Group; where investment meets property. An early day Kingston Project mainly focused on two lot developments, or what we call 'duplex conversions' where we found a creative solution to our most frequented question - 'I have an existing home that I need to sell before I can invest'. Our duplex conversions enabled our clients to retain their existing home along with their rental income, and build a new home connected to the existing home. Our solution focused lens enabled us to corner the market, and provide an investment / development opportunity to our clients who otherwise wouldn't have had the opportunity. As a team of three with growth in mind, our focus shifted onto larger, more intensive development.
Fast forward to today, our team has grown to ten staff, all of which have varied backgrounds; whether it be in financial advice, building, town planning, or accounting - we aspired to be most knowledgeable in our chosen industry! With our growth came larger investment projects and opportunities, moving away from the 'duplex conversion' towards higher density developments - with a focus on four to ten lot develop and build projects. Along with our company growth came a growth in investment funding. We've seen great success in our recent projects, such at 59 Oakfield Crescent, Pukete, and 30 Riverview Road, Morrinsville. In addition to our infill developments, we also specialise in greenfield developments, where we are presented with a blank canvas to be creative. Our most recent greenfield development is in Hakarimata, Ngaruawahia, where we are undertaking a 58 lot subdivision with lot sizes ranging from 5,000 sqm to 15,000 sqm. Stage 1 of the Hakarimata Development is now complete - with happy purchasers and even happier investors.
The Kingston Group Team
The team is well diversified with various backgrounds in construction, design, town planning, finance and chartered accounting. The one common trait that is shared amongst the team is that we are problem solvers and this has served us well through the last 2 years of uncertainty.
Our financial team is made up of a former chartered accountant and financial adviser. Together, they work with our investors to find a project that suits them; whether it be a smaller infill development comprising 4 lots, or a larger mixed use development or greenfield development. Our financial team sees the bigger picture on our projects, and has a keen eye for project budgets and return on investment. We are confident in understanding project risks and opportunities, ensuring we maximize the value on the dollar.
Our in-house licensed building practitioner (LBP) draftsperson prepares our concept plans, and helps us to understand a sites development potential. With a creative lens, our draftsperson ensures we get the highest yield from a site whilst ensuring we don't sacrifice design aesthetic.
Our in-house town planner works closely with our draftsperson to ensure our projects meet local Council regulations. Once a project starts, our planner oversees the project at a high level to ensure compliance is achieved with our local Council and consent requirements.
The Kingston Group project team comprises two project managers and a construction coordinator. With our senior project manager having several years building experience in addition to being an LBP, we can confidently oversee our builds, knowing we have the knowledge to understand the complexities of the build process. With the support of our director, a licensed tradesman with 20 years trade experience, our project team has the capabilities to competently oversee a development and build.
Over the years we have built a wider team of consultants and tradespeople who we trust to execute our projects on the ground. We work closely with our wider team to ensure we have priority, a mutual understanding of development and build costs, and an understanding of project timeframes.
What's next for Kingston Group?
The Kingston Group team has seen growth and opportunity come our way in the property market and investment sector, and we're looking to continue and expand that growth. In five years time we see Kingston Group being twofold; the people you want to invest your money with, and the people you want to build your home. With this mindset, we strive to build larger, more higher density developments; targeting a minimum development of 10 lots. In addition, we have plans to enter the commercial sector, with a keen interest in mixed use developments; being both residential and commercial.
With our unique investment opportunities, which offer a 50/50 split return on investment, we see ourselves as a sought after investment partner. We seek to have repeat investors, who have completed many projects with us and trust our brand.
