EcoSpring makes hot water heat pumps for New Zealand homes. A heat pump cylinder takes heat out of the surrounding air and moves it into the water, so most of the energy that heats the tank comes from the air rather than from the grid. Against a standard electric resistance cylinder, that is 60 to 75 percent less electricity for the same hot water, over a service life of around fifteen years. The range is two models. ECOS200. 200 litre cylinder for a one to two person household with average water use. 620mm diameter, 1510mm high, 100kg net. RRP $3,279 including GST. ECOS270. 270 litre cylinder for a three to four person household with average water use. 620mm diameter, 1830mm high, 119kg net. RRP $4,495 including GST. Both models use R290 refrigerant, recover 60 litres an hour, are rated to a 60 degree outlet temperature, are IPX4 rated and carry a five year warranty.
