The kitchen is everyone’s favorite feature of the house and the striking benchtops are a big part of the appeal.

We have a ‘compact’ kitchen given the terrace house is only small so every inch of space needs to be carefully considered and ideally dual purpose. When selecting a benchtop material, we went with the Dekton Taga because of its beautiful appearance (first and foremost) which was supported by it’s ease of maintenance and it’s heat resistance. We have used the material alongside our induction cooktop and even recessed the cooktop surface into the benchtop to create a flush, seamless transition between the two surfaces. Had we used real natural stone, this would have been for looks only. In this instance though, it also serves a functional purpose because we regularly slide hot pans on and off the induction cooktop directly onto the Dekton without a worry of the material cracking or getting damaged.

We also love it in the bathrooms as the vanity top material. There is so many harsh chemicals that make their way into the bathroom between cleaning products to hair dyes to serums and potions - all of which have the potential to cause staining and damage to sensitive materials like natural stone. Using the Dekton on the benchtop means we will never have to worry about any of the dreaded shampoo bottle ring marks left on the benchtop after a hair dye misadventure.
