Shifting Focus.

Conceived of as a Tied Island, the project brief was to create a private semi-connected suite for the parents of three energetic boys, which would fit seamlessly into the landscape and to an existing family home.

Part sanctuary, part much-needed amenity, this compact addition introduces soft contours and folds into a simple rectilinear extension of the existing house roof form.

Shifting Focus from near to far, cabinetry to garden to horizon, ceiling to sky, the considered placement of openings and gentle curves deftly expands the footprint of the building to take in the surrounding environment, even allowing the owners to sleep under the stars free of any suburban light pollution.
