Salt House.

Inspiration has derived from the stated theme of Australian Contemporary Urban Coastal Architecture. The design proposal has been established to reflect a contemporary beachside theme, promoting a relaxed lifestyle. Our intention is to provide a unique architectural style informed by site, which reflects the unique urban coastal environment of Torquay. This contemporary beachside theme has been achieved with the form, materials, and pallet of our proposed design. A gable roof paired with vertical white weatherboard and Colorbond Steel cladding in the shade of ‘Surfmist’ influence a relaxed coastal theme. The light cladding and roofing hasn’t been designed to only provide a coastal beachy aesthetic, but it also contributes to lower urban heat island effects amongst its site. The cool design is paired with an earthy timber screen, featuring the entry point. Our modern take on the gable has been designed to maximise the comfort of the home and provide an ocean aspect. Habitants have been provided with a highly functional home, to fulfil their daily needs while providing the opportunity to maintain a sustainable and healthy lifestyle.
