PLAY-UP.

Play-up is a playful yet architecturally refined playhouse designed for the client’s young family. Blending a characterful battened façade with its surrounding landscape, it feels like a natural extension of the main home.

Serving as a vehicle for creativity, exploration, and boundless imagination, it offers a space that will enchant for years to come - one that will evolve as its young occupants grow. The restrained exterior subtly disguises the vibrant energy within, featuring a lively pink palette and an abundance of toys.

Upon entry, a mud kitchen provides a versatile space for messy adventures; and on warm summer evenings, transforms into an ice bucket beside the outdoor dining area.

While its appearance exudes playfulness cloaked in restraint, Play-up champions a creative approach to sustainability. Over 90% of the materials were sourced from building site scrap, recycling yards, or salvaged from previous renovation projects. Constructed using a panelised methodology, it’s also designed for disassembly and relocation, ready to move when its family does.

Play-up is a cherished place where memories are made, imaginations take flight, and childhood stories unfold - offering a special space that grows with the children it was lovingly built for.
