Pitcairn House is situated on a small site just off the main coastal parade in the Taranaki beach resort town of Oakura.

Designed around of maximizing sweeping views to the south-west of Oakura Beach to the Ahu Ahu headland and reef, along with meeting the needs of a young family that enables them to naturally grow with the house over the course of time.

Using a selection of robust materiality to weather the relentless sun wind and rain that (at times) can all occur within the space of 30 minutes in this location, the house has been arranged around a series of inter-woven internal and external spaces to enhance the ability of occupants to coalesce at ease in different areas as the weather and occasion allow.
