Mr Pickles.

Hidden in central Hamilton, Mr. Pickles offers a surprisingly layered and atmospheric hospitality experience. The brief was to create a textured, memorable interior that built on the raw character of The Riverbank Lane. Inspired by a menu focused on shared charcuterie and cocktails, the design draws from French art-deco influences of the 1920s. To keep the space lively and communal rather than formal, we introduced bold materials and confident colour selections throughout.

Curved tables along the front provide a relaxed spot for charcuterie and drinks before guests move into the more intimate dining area, which features its own back bar and movable steel planters for subtle separation. Curved forms appear throughout the bar, tables, and wall planters, linking the design to its art-deco references and contrasting with the exposed structure overhead. Warm timbers soften the acoustics and frame velvet booths, while linear battens guide the eye to sculptural wall sconces. Custom terrazzo, coloured to match the brand palette and used across bar and table surfaces, creates a strong first impression.
