This modern residence located on a lake in the Devonshire neighborhood of Dallas maximizes views while nestling into the landscape. Positioned in the middle of a linear site, the home engages the natural environment and creates a dialog with an enormous heritage live oak in the front yard and the lake to the rear. The house orients and reorients one’s relationship to the site. As you enter the home, the lake is revealed from the entry way through a glass handrail staircase. Moving through the primary spaces on the main level, the rooms have generous views of the lake to the north or the trees to the south. The upper level with the primary suite and salon continue these views from above. While the home is three stories, it is recessed into the landscape to fit into the topography and create a dynamic connection along the lakeside. At the lower level, a long infinity pool adjacent the lake extends the connection of the architecture with the landscape.  The home features large porches on the front and the back of the home for entertaining. The front porch features an outdoor kitchen. At the lower level by the pool, a grotto tucked beneath the main level provides a place to relax and enjoy the pool on a hot summer day. Clad in a fossil filled Texas limestone, Douglas fir siding, and a copper roof, the material palette reflects the natural tones of the landscape. The limestone walls and the Douglas fir soffits continue inside to further strengthen the connection of the interior with the landscape.
