Low Energy Beach Home.

Set within the native bush of Campbells Bay, this contemporary low-energy home was designed as a replacement for the client’s existing fire-damaged dwelling. The brief called for a modern architectural response that would not only restore the home, but significantly improve comfort, performance, construction efficiency, and long-term resilience.

With the site nestled into a sensitive bush environment and looking out towards the Campbells Bay inlet, extensive site feasibility was required to carefully assess access, building placement, topography, outlook, and environmental impact. The resulting design responds directly to its setting, with a restrained contemporary form that sits quietly within the landscape while maximising connection to the surrounding trees and coastal outlook.

Origin Architecture used SIP panel construction as a key part of the project’s low-energy design strategy. The modular panel system allowed for a highly insulated, airtight building envelope, helping to improve thermal performance, reduce energy demand, and create a more comfortable internal environment throughout the year. The panelised construction method also supported a more efficient build process, reducing time on site and offering greater construction accuracy.

The home combines clean modern detailing, dark vertical cladding, generous glazing, and elevated outdoor living spaces to create a refined architectural response that feels both contemporary and grounded in its natural setting. Designed with performance, efficiency, and environmental sensitivity at its core, the Campbells Bay home demonstrates how low-energy construction can be seamlessly integrated into a highly considered architectural design.
