Set in the rolling landscapes of country Victoria, this 5000-square-meter garden was reimagined alongside the renovation of a 1960s home.

Designed for passionate plant collectors, the project focuses on creating the ideal environment for a diverse range of rare and unusual species while ensuring a cohesive design that weaves together distinct botanical themes and a sense of history.

Inspired by the lush gardens of Italy’s Lake Como, the garden embraces a rich tapestry of textures, colours, and seasonal interest. Carefully curated plant groupings establish a dynamic yet harmonious flow, balancing structured elements with naturalistic plantings.

Rare Japanese pines and dwarf conifers add sculptural form, while a sweeping meadow and an abundance of bulbs introduce movement and bursts of seasonal colour. With nearly 250 species integrated into the design, the garden celebrates botanical diversity while maintaining a thoughtful, immersive aesthetic.

Beyond its visual appeal, the garden offers an ever-evolving experience, where each pocket tells a story of the plants within it. By blending the owners’ passion for plant collecting with a strong sense of place, the landscape becomes a living archive—one that honours both horticultural rarity and the enduring beauty of well-composed garden design.
