With the backdrop of a landscaped garden and flowing indoor outdoor transitions, the kitchen’s refined materials and social layout were shaped by both the natural surroundings and the homeowner’s desire for an inclusive entertaining space.

A Design Informed by the Landscape

Set on an existing patio with a 47mm slope and 9mm crossfall, the kitchen’s foundation presented a challenge that ultimately drove design excellence. Rather than working against the irregular slab, the Freeform team measured and site-cut every component to millimetre precision, creating an architectural feature that feels sculpted into the site.

The sloping base becomes invisible beneath perfectly level benchtops and clean cabinetry lines, allowing the kitchen to feel grounded and integrated within its outdoor context. The natural flow of the landscape inspired the open-sided layout and seating zones that encourage movement, gathering, and connection.

Bringing the Indoors Out

The homeowners had a clear vision: to build an outdoor space with the same comfort and tactile experience of their interior kitchen.

To meet this brief, Freeform Alfresco wrapped three signature appliances - a Kamado Joe, Weber Q BBQ, and Grandfire fridge - in precision-built cabinetry that feels tailored and timeless. Hettich’s outdoor-rated drawer systems and hinges add to the luxury feel: the pull bin waste system glides with interior-grade smoothness, even in open air.

Built to Entertain, Designed to Last

Entertaining is at the core of this kitchen’s design philosophy. An extended island bench allows for relaxed seating while keeping the cook part of the conversation. Every detail was considered: built-in rubbish separation, ample prep space, and direct access to chilled drinks all contribute to a stress-free hosting experience.

Material selection ensures longevity. The Dekton benchtops and cabinet fronts provide high UV resistance and effortless maintenance, while Hettich hardware ensures continued performance in harsh outdoor conditions.

The result is a kitchen that will look as flawless in 10 years as it does today.
