Guthrie Bowron named New Zealand’s most trusted

The award is based entirely on independent consumer research, with thousands of New Zealanders first asked to nominate brands they trust without prompts, before selecting the single brand they trust most. Winners cannot enter or pay to be considered, with results determined through a rigorous, data-led methodology.
Guthrie Bowron operates 52 locally owned and operated stores nationwide, delivering tailored advice and custom-made window furnishings across the country. While the award recognises its curtains and blinds, the business provides a full range of decorating products and services, including paint, wallpaper, curtains, blinds and flooring. The business continues to invest in local manufacturing and innovation, while maintaining a strong focus on customer experience – from consultation through to installation.
Alan Heatlie, Joint Owner of Guthrie Bowron, says the recognition reflects the trust the brand has built with generations of New Zealanders.
To be voted New Zealand’s most trusted curtain and blind installer by New Zealanders is incredibly special, particularly in our 130th year. It’s an honour that reflects our commitment to quality, service and trust. It signals the focus we’ve placed on consistency over time. Our approach is to work closely with customers, understand what they need, and aim to get it right the first time.

Founded in 1896, Guthrie Bowron remains proudly New Zealand-owned, with a network of local stores embedded in communities across the country. The business has grown through repeat customers and referrals, supported by a consistent approach to service and delivery.
The Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands survey is conducted in two stages, beginning with an open-ended nomination process before a second survey asks consumers to select the single brand they trust most in each category. The 2026 results will be published in the May issue of Reader’s Digest.
Trust continues to play a significant role in purchasing decisions, with 91% of New Zealand consumers more likely to buy from a Trusted Brand.
